Dental implant assisted removable dentures combine the benefits of dental implants and traditional dentures to provide an excellent teeth replacement solution for anyone suffering from tooth loss as a result of periodontal disease, injury, bone atrophy, or other dental problems.

Dental implant assisted removable dentures can be removed for cleaning, but they are considered a more stable and secure denture solution than traditional removable dentures.

What Is The Difference Between Dental Implant Assisted Removable Dentures And Conventional Ones?

Like regular dentures, dental implant assisted removable dentures are removable teeth replacement solutions for anyone who suffers from missing, decayed or severely damaged teeth. Also like traditional dentures, they come in full or partial dentures for the upper or lower jaw and have the ability to restore a full set or partial set of teeth.

The biggest difference between dental implant assisted removable dentures and conventional ones is in the way they are secured and held into place within one’s mouth. Unlike regular dentures, which are rest on top of the gum tissue, implant assisted removable dentures snap into place on top of dental implants or a bar connected to implants for a more secure fit.

The greatest advantage of implant assisted removable upper dentures over traditional ones is that they do not require a palate, or guard on the roof of one’s mouth, in order for the denture to stay firmly in place. They simply snap directly onto a series of dental implants that are surgically placed and sufficiently bonded into the jawbone.

How Do Dental Implant Assisted Removable Dentures Work?

The procedure starts with the placement of dental implants into one’s existing bone structure. Over the course of several months, the implants bond with the bone, providing a stable foundation on which to connect to your dentures. Once the implants have had sufficient time to bond with the jawbone, an abutment is attached to the implants, which is used to connect to your custom-fitted and designed dentures.

Dental implant assisted removable dentures can either be bar-retained or stud-retained. Bar-retained dentures are snapped into place using clips that connect to a thin metal bar atop your implants. Stud-retained dentures are fitted to a metal attachment in your dental implants.

Your dentures will be custom made to fit your distinct smile, restoring your ability to eat, speak and smile with ease once again.
