Dr. MacPherson

Dr. MacPherson is proud of the fact that more than 99% of her patients would recommend her to family and friends. She has also been voted among San Diego’s Top Dentists every year since 2013, a title given to her by her peers in the dental community.

Dr. Pamela A. MacPherson of Center for Dental Restorations is more than just any dentist! She is the only female board-certified prosthodontist in San Diego. Dr. MacPherson also knows what it feels like to need extensive dental work.

This combination gives you a dentist with extensive training and a caring touch.

What Makes a Prosthodontist Different from General Dentist?

To become a certified prosthodontist, a dental professional must undergo extensive training beyond that of an ordinary dentist.

Any general dentist can call himself a “cosmetic dentist” since the American Dental Association (ADA) does not recognize cosmetic dentistry as a specialty. There’s no additional training needed for cosmetic dentistry and no additional tests to pass.

However, prosthodontics is an ADA-recognized specialty that requires additional training related to the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients.

To become a board-certified prosthodontist (also known as an American Board of Prosthodontics Diplomate), Dr. MacPherson was required to complete an additional three-year specialty residency. She then completed a written exam and three oral exams based on actual patients she treated.

To maintain board certification, Dr. MacPherson must demonstrate her commitment to continuing education, which she does by always keeping up to date with the latest technologies and treatments. She also is required to pass an exam on a regular basis.

ABP Diplomates are the top in their field, teaching other prosthodontists by presenting scientific lectures and publishing articles. Dr. MacPherson meets all of the qualifications for certification and uses her knowledge and expertise to better serve you, her patient!
